God is not a mother.
There are several places in Scripture where God is compared to a mother, but never does the Bible teach us that God is a mother. Instead, the universal testimony of Scripture is that God is a Father.
And this is not because the Bible was written by woman-hating iron-age peasants. Rather, it’s because it was written by men who were guided by the Holy Spirit, through whom God reveals Himself to us as Father.
In fact, Ephesians 3:14–15 says that God is the Father from whom all fatherhood in heaven and on earth gets its name.
God creates through the authority of His will;
God provides out of His lovingkindness toward what He has created;
God protects His beloved with His powerful right hand.
In other words, God does everything a father should do, and He does it perfectly, with authority, with lovingkindness, and with power; and we put our trust—we believe—in Him.
